Inspirations for Genre of Music

These are some of the things that have inspired me to chose the genre of music that I have.  I thought a lot about the target audience and who I would be creating this music magazine for.  It is mainly students that I would be advertising to and also because of my surveys that I sent out, I noticed that a lot of students listen to Rock, Grunge and Indie music so I will be advertising for them.

These are some of the ideas that I had for the model's costume.  I chose these because the band are quite an edgy, grunge band and I wanted that to show in what they wear.  I wanted their hair to be messy to show their edgy style. This will be shown in the photos for my magazine because of the genre that I chose. I want the band's hair messy to show a casual, laid-back style that they have and this adds to the band's genre of music because it's quite loud and has a huge beat to it and this can be shown in their clothing and hairstyles.
I have also shown some of my ideas for the location of where I want to take the photos. I chose these locations, even if I don't use all of them, to show a dark style to the band because I like the genre of music that they play.  I also liked the idea of these locations because they are simple and this with emphasise the band because the reader won't be focused on what is in the background of the photo, their attention will be on the band.

First Article

This is my first attempt of a magazine article.  It is very basic because I didn't have a computer at the time.  There is a lot that needs changing about it.  I could use images to show the reader who its about before they read it, i could add a 'slug' in the corner to show that it is an exclusive article, i also could add some subheads in there to break up the different topics that are being talked about in the article, I also could have put page numbers at the bottom of the pages.  I also need to use images with captions to show who its about and what is happening in the image.

This article could be improved now that I know more about what could be put into a magazine article and i will think about where I want certain text, sub heads and images for my music magazine. 

NME Deconstruction 3

This is my deconstruction of NME music magazine. I found out that they use a main colour for the front cover and they don't give too much away when they are talking about the different stories that are featured in the magazine.  This magazine attracts young students and it advertises a wide variety of music so they can attract more of an audience.

Mojo Deconstruction 2

This is my deconstruction of MOJO music magazine.  MOJO advertises for an older audience because of the colour scheme and the bands that are featured within the magazine.  The cover is quite plain and the bands are older bands which shows that the magazine advertises for a certain audience.

Spark Deconstruction #1

This is my deconstruction of Spark FM magazine.  Spark FM is a radio station from Sunderland but they also have a magazine that advertises, music, films, fashion and sports.  I noticed that this magazine has a set colour scheme that they use for their magazine radio station and website, so they used that colour throughout the magazine.  This magazine advertises to young students because of the recent music and films that they put in the magazine.

Inspirations!

These are my inspirations of bands/artists and music magazines that inspire me to think about what I may put into my own music magazine.  The bands/artists are also some of the people that inspire me in my life so I thought it was only fitting that I put some of those as my inspirations.

Mood Board

 This is a mood board of all of the different magazines that I want my magazine to be like because most of them advertise to a wide variety of people and of different ages. Although I won't be advertising to a lot of different ages, I may advertise to a wide audience that have a lot of different music genres that they like.

The Briefs!



Briefs 
When centres choose briefs to offer to candidates, they should be guided by their strengths in terms of resources and expertise. Centres should also bear in mind the key areas: forms and conventions, production contexts, the role of technologies, audiences/users and representations. 
The set briefs are as follows: 

Print 
Preliminary exercise: using DTP and an image manipulation program, produce the front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. Additionally candidates must produce a DTP mock-up of the layout of the contents page to demonstrate their grasp of the program. 
Main task: the front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine (if done as a group task, each member of the group to produce an individual edition of the magazine, following the same house style). Maximum four members to a group. 
~ All images and text used must be original, produced by the candidate(s), minimum of FOURimages per candidate. ~

AIMS!

The aims of these specifications are to:

• Enhance candidates enjoyment and appreciation of the media and it role in their daily lives.
• develop critical understanding of the media through engagment with media products and concepts and through the creative application of practical skills.
• explore production processes, technologies and contexts.
• become independant in research skills and their application.
